Hello! My name is Kristina Marie Galluzzo. I am a determined, hardworking, responsible, teacher candidate attending teachers college at Brock University for the Junior/Intermediate program. I completed my undergraduate degree at York University where I received a Bachelor of Arts in English and Humanities with Honors. Throughout my academic journey the expansion of knowledge and increasing of education has always been a major priority. Since a young age I have dreamt of one day becoming a teacher and am excited for what the journey holds ahead for me.
Throughout my psychological and educational development I have had the opportunity to participate in numerous volunteer and work opportunities which have impacted the enhancement of my adoration for guiding and moulding those around me. Since the age of fifteen I volunteered to work as a leisure buddy through the city of Vaughan where I learned valuable life skills such as patience and appreciation for others. As the years progressed I continued to work with children ranging with different physical and mental disabilities in order to strengthen my adoration for guiding others.
Over the years the advancement of technology has significantly shifted the face of the traditional classroom. Numerous programs such as “Bring Your Own Device” have been implemented to encourage the exploration of different digital outlets within the classroom in order to promote individuality, creativity and academic success. The twenty first century student has access to a multitude of applications and resources which aim to expand and strengthen knowledge and understanding of various subjects. The rapid influx of technology has altered the pace and method in which individuals learn, process and retain information therefore educators must be willing to shift traditional practices and ways of thinking in order to offer the most for their students. Technology permits and encourages the exploration of knowledge, understanding and independence within an academic allowing for educational, physical and mental development.
Throughout my academic career technology had never been incorporated into my field of study therefore I recognized that this would present a major barrier to my ability to succeed. During my first year of teachers college my focus aimed on heightening my scope of knowledge by researching and exploring various outlets made available to students and teacher. I began this endeavour by developing a Pinterest Boardwhich featured a collection of articles which aimed to educate, critique and explore various educational resources accessed through a digital tablet or computer which. Throughout my exploration I also came across numerous articles which dealt with and discussed outlets which can aid students suffering from different mental, physical and educational disabilities. The exploration of the resources helped greatly in laying the foundation of my knowledge as well increasing my level of confidence in regards to technology. “When technology integration in the classroom is seamless and thoughtful, students not only become more engaged, they begin to take more control over their own learning, too. Effective tech integration changes classroom dynamics, encouraging student centered project-based learning” subtracted from the article How To Integrate Technology. The article would be extremely beneficial for the contemporary educator as the author provides detailed instructions and explanations as to why the incorporation of technology would aid in student academic success. As an educator we cannot deny that technology has become a major component of our lives and in order to benefit the most from digital devices we must be willing to expand our scope of knowledge and understanding. As my academic journey progresses I will continue to develop my scope of knowledge in regards to technology as it recognize the significance of incorporating technology into the classroom.
